This morning we had a surprise guest! Our new neighbor just a few doors down. She came to invite us for lunch this weekend. Why is this so special? Well, at the beginning of this year we prayed to get to know and bless our neighbors more this year. We definitely saw some small changes with some of our neighbors, but this time it was a little different. She came in and talked to us for almost an hour. It turns out the reason she felt so inclined to have us over is because the day she moved in Gabe said "Hello" to her and her son. He felt like he was supposed to mention that we're Youth Leaders at our church (which is true). She was just so excited there is another Christian in this community! She came in asking about where we go to church and what we do, etc. She mentioned that she felt comfortable talking with us even after knowing us for just a few minutes. She went on to tell us her story...and wow! She has been through some STUFF! But God has helped her and her family through so much to bring her to where she is now, which led us to talking about miracles.
I don't know if it's because of the movie "Miracle on 34th Street" or what, but I've observed that more people seem to believe in miracles during Christmastime. But the miracles, and hope that they may come, seem to dwindle as the season fades.
The other week I made a list of things, including some miracles, that I am expecting for 2010. Is it rude to "expect" God to do things? Nope! He says to ask and we'll receive - so I'm doing it! My husband and I are putting our lists together today and we'll print it out and post it somewhere we can see it each day. Then, as things happen, we can check them off. I'll keep you updated on how and when these miracles take place,...because they WILL. :)
